Este c\u0103s\u0103torit\u0103 cu un profesor de art\u0103 \u015fi au patru copii.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Marie s-a n\u0103scut \u00een 1938, \u00een Tahunanui, Nelson, \u00een Insula de Sud,\u00a0 \u015fi are o sor\u0103 geam\u0103n\u0103. Ea a urmat 12 ani de \u015fcoal\u0103 \u00een Blenheim. Marie se descrie astfel: \u201eSunt o fat\u0103 de ora\u015f mic, iubesc mediul rural. Am c\u0103l\u0103rit cai, am mers o mil\u0103 p\u00e2n\u0103 la \u015fcoal\u0103 \u00eenc\u0103 de c\u00e2nd aveam \u015fase ani. Mama ne-a \u00eenv\u0103\u0163at pe noi, gemenele, s\u0103 citim de c\u00e2nd aveam patru ani \u015fi jum\u0103tate. Iubirea de c\u0103r\u0163i a r\u0103mas cu mine toat\u0103 via\u0163a&#8221;. Marie a studiat limba maori pe care o vorbe\u015fte fluent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Primul ei poem \u201eMama tricoteaz\u0103\u201d, pe care l-a scris \u00een 1974, a fost publicat \u00een New Zealand Listener. \u00cen anii 1990, Marie a participat la un curs sus\u0163inut de Cilla McQueen, o bine-cunoscut\u0103 poet\u0103 din Noua Zeeland\u0103. \u201eDe la acest curs a venit o parte din impulsul pentru Poe\u0163i \u00een via\u0163\u0103&#8221;, a declarat ea. \u00cent\u00e2lnirea cu Keith Thorsen, un cunoscut poet actor, a avut o alt\u0103 influen\u0163\u0103 major\u0103 asupra grupului Poe\u0163i \u00een via\u0163\u0103. \u00cencep\u00e2nd din anul 2000, Marie este un membru constant al grupului Poe\u021bi \u00een via\u021b\u0103. \u00cen ultimul deceniu, Marie \u015fi-a prezentat unele dintre poeziile sale \u00een timpul diferitelor \u00eent\u00e2lniri de poezie locale, regionale \u015fi na\u0163ionale, precum \u015fi la postul de radio \u201eR\u0103pitorii\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">***<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Marie Dunningham is a retired Plunket Nurse, \u201ca most fulfilling occupation and I used all my experiences with nursing, child development, cultural differences, helping new mothers\u201d, as Marie described it. She is married to an art teacher, and they have four children.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Marie was born in 1938, in Tahunanui, Nelson, in the South Island, one of twin girls. She completed 12 years of schooling in Blenheim. She commented: \u2018I am a small-town girl, love the countryside. I rode horses, walked a mile to school from the time I was six years old. My mother taught us, twins, to read by the time we were four and a\u00a0half years old. The love of books has stayed with me all my life.\u2019 Marie studied the Maori language and speaks it reasonably fluently.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Her first poem \u201cMy Mother Knits\u201d she wrote in 1974, was printed in the New Zealand Listener. In 1990s, Marie attended a workshop course held by Cilla McQueen, a well-known New Zealand poet. \u201cIt was from this course that some of the impetus for Live Poets came\u201d, she stated. The appointment of Keith Thorsen, a known performance poet, was the other major influence on the Live Poets group. She has been a regular member of Hawke\u2019s\u2019 Bay Live Poets since 2000.
