Mi-am stabilit un obiectiv s\u0103 merg la \u015fedin\u0163ele lunare ale Poe\u0163ilor \u00een via\u0163\u0103 din Hawke\u2019s Bay, de fiecare dat\u0103 cu un poem nou \u015fi s\u0103 \u00eel citesc \u00een fa\u0163a celorlal\u0163i.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sunt atras\u0103 de poezie pentru c\u0103 sunt atras\u0103 de ambiguitate, de juxtapunerea lucrurilor surprinz\u0103toare \u015fi de modul \u00een care cuvintele \u015ficaneaz\u0103 \u015fi \u00eenc\u00e2nt\u0103. \u00cemi place s\u0103 surprind momente din via\u0163a de zi cu zi, care m-au surprins \u015fi m-au transportat din via\u0163a cotidian\u0103 \u00eentr-un loc mai pu\u0163in obi\u015fnuit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">***<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mandy Pentecost introduces herself: \u2018I live at Waipatiki Beach, a very small coastal settlement near Napier, where you can always hear the sea and the song of native birds. Even through the night the calls of the ruru (New Zealand owl) echo through our valley. My family has been in New Zealand since the 1850s, and I have lived in this land all my life. I came to Hawke\u2019s Bay for a one year job over thirty years ago, and felt so at home here that I have stayed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2018I work as a counsellor and educator, and use poetry in both these roles, to promote change and increased understanding of the lives of self and other. \u2018I have two adult daughters, both of whom are writers. I began writing poetry again, after many years of not doing so, when my daughter was studying creative writing. I set myself a goal to go to the monthly meetings of the Hawke\u2019s Bay Live poets with a new poem each time, and to read it in front of others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2018I am drawn to poetry because I am drawn to ambiguity, to the juxtaposition of surprising things, and the way words tease and enchant. I like to capture moments of everyday life that have surprised me, and transported me from the everyday to somewhere less ordinary.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0***<\/p>\n<p><strong>PRACTICILE DE in.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Stretched away from the pole <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>he goes round and round and round.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Unnerving, I say.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Talk about unnerving, Bruce says.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Dawn, last week, <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>a group of Maori, facing the sea, chanting.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And, Bruce says, dolphins were playing on the waves.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>You don&#8217;t get them here this time of year.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>His eyes shine.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>They called in the bloody dolphins.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>His dog is agitated,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>prances, whines with each bellow,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>will not &#8220;quiet boy&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>All weekend frantic neighs have filled the valley.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>When exhaustion claims the horse,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>he stands in the trough his hooves have made<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>head skin pulling you\u00a0 in.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>There was that time I watched my daughter<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>moving swiftly in the wrong direction entirely, <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>until it dawned on me that her not <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>turning her board to shore<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>was nothing to do with disobedience at all. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>No matter how I gestured at her to come in,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>the deep clutch of the sea would not let her go.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>That\u2019s what annoyed her most, <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>how my insistent mothering took no account of the tide,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>siting her peril neatly in a storyline<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>of headlong immersions beyond her depth. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>That\u2019s how it is with love: you just fall.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>You fall willingly, thrall to deep, powerful water.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>An
