In October 28, 2012, Prof. Dr. Mircea-Eugen Craioveanu has left us, a world-class mathematician. A brilliant MAN, good teacher, a Cernowitz man who wan.! A model for all generations; intelligent, charming, family man of exception, generous friend. Modest and dignified. He will return to Sibiu near his ancestors, elite officers of times… Although mathematician at the West University of Timişoara, the military education received in the family has put its mark on the attitude, dignity and value. He served his Romanian people as he had been taught. The books, his studies, spread all over the world, the generations of mathematicians that he formed will endure over time. Mircea-Eugen Craioveanu „is the tamer who tamed the infinity”, as Lucian Blaga would say.
The work recognized and promoted within the country and abroad, projects on research levels such as global differential geometry, differential topology, global analysis, analysis on varieties, geometric methods, analysis of theoretical physics helped to promote the Romanian education, to implementation of successful international programs. He has always been among active researchers and eminent mathematicians of the world. He breathed “mathematically”, knowing to give meaning to the moment, dressing it in a “geometric” form! About his work, researchers from abroad are adviced to pronounce.
